To Twillingate…

9/13 – Left St Barbe today after being forced to wait out the winds yesterday. At one point we were getting gusts to over 100 (kph not mph which still was in excess of 60). The trailer, which weighs over 10000 lbs, was  moved about 8 inches.

We got to Grose Morne National Park and will spend at least 2 days here. We have a nice RV spot. Looking straight out is the Back Bay, and to the left is the ocean, all w/in 50 yards. That is strange but the name of the community is stranger – Cow Head. Don’t ask. I don’t know.

It was windy today and the travel was really slow (I rarely got over 40) but yesterday winds were twice what we had today.

Weather should improve next week according to the forecast.

9/15 – So much for weather improving, it’s blowing like hell and raining AND Adam needs to go out.

Yesterday I took a two hour boat tour of Western Brook Pond in Gros Mourne National Park. You start by walking to the boat ramp – 2 miles. It was raining when I left the car, but quit and then stayed dry. The tour is of a once salt water fjord, now freshwater pond (15 miles long).

We are delaying another day here in Cow Head due to winds and rain.

9/16 – Back on the road, now on Highway 1 – the TCH, Trans Canadian Highway, which starts in Vancouver and ends at St John’s and, after about 200 miles, we found a park that was open. Susan was saying she wanted Asian food for dinner, right, good luck. So the first park we were going to was closed. Back on the TCH. We got off at the next town and blew right by an open park so we continued until I could turn around – which happened to be the parking lot of The Lucky Fortune Chinese restaurant.  And after getting set up, you can guess where I went for carry out.

Full moon tonight, quite spectacular although the iPhone doesn’t do it justice. You all should have a full moon too. The moonrise here was a tad before 8PM. If any of you notice the time of moonrise where you are, let me know. If you didn’t know, we are 30 minutes later in Newfoundland than the rest of eastern Canada which uses Atlantic time. So, we are 4 1/2 hours later than the west coast.

screen-shot-2016-09-25-at-4-11-57-pmOK, got to send this as we are heading north tomorrow to Twillingate, which was our favorite place when here in 2007. Don’t think there is wifi there.

Love you guys.
