Louisiana!

5/16/19 – We went east into Louisiana today.

The RV park we wanted was closed permanently. Ended up at a state park about 100 miles southwest of New Orleans. Lots of new birds – wild flamingos, rosette spoonbills, scarlet cardinals, and a couple types of ibis.

More roadkill than I’ve ever seen which included turtles, a couple river otters, two wild pigs, nutria, raccoons, snakes, frogs, and lord only know what some of those mangled viscera were at one time. The drive was interesting, normally we had water on both sides of the road.

Nine Banded Armadillo

About to be attacked! BTW – it is legal to shoot these guys anytime, anywhere in Louisiana. They do dig up yards but that’s their only crime.  Then the last picture below is from right on a bayou 10 miles south of New Orleans where we spent 2 nights – not in this – but in the campground.
