Fort Stockton in West Texas

4/29/19 – We are ending our second night in Fort Stockton in West Texas. Tomorrow we will head south to the national park, about 130 miles. We have reservations at the only campground with electricity for 2 nights.

One of the more interesting things happened this morning on Everest’s walk. This huge white dog, looked like a Newfoundland but white, started barking at us from this field. My first thought was it somehow got free. Then it ambled over to a flock of about 30 sheep. It was their protector!  A beautiful animal and useful!

Hear that Everest?, useful.

West Texas is definitely having an oil boom, in fact that extends up several hundred miles into New Mexico. Trucks trucks trucks. There are RV parks everywhere filled with big 5th Wheel rigs owned by workers.
