Dead and dying humpies (pink salmon).
Right inside Valdez city limits. “Bears are everywhere” so say residents- we didn’t see any but you could tell they come here often to feed on easy pickins’.
There was a comment from a biologist who said – I paraphrase here –
Don’t lament or feel sorry for those dead and dying salmon you see just about everywhere in Alaska each summer and fall. They are to be admired because against insurmountable odds they courageously survived and successfully completed their purpose of being, bringing future life to their species.
