7/2 – Check Engine light came on the pickup again, this time it coded as glow plug malfunction. We could have gone on (it’s used only to start the car and it starts fine), but I decided it would be be better to get it fixed, which took less than an hour. Total bill was around $130, new glow plug. So, one more night here and off we go tomorrow morning.
This town, Flin Flon, is located on the border of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, mostly the latter. Probably good idea to wait until tomorrow for travel – it’s been raining, hard at times, all day – and it’s cold – in the high 40s. One pretty cool thing happened yesterday on the way back from the laundromat. We drove past a seaplane base and got to watch a Dehavilland Beaver on floats land right in front of us.
BTW, we have now been to all Canadian provinces, and all territories except Nunavut (that is a sprawling huge territory centered on central Canada, extends from Hudson Bay to the Arctic Ocean and we ain’t going there. )
- Photo from 7/10 Flock of a bunch of young geese almost ready to fly. This bear (below) was running away from us at Prince Albert Park.
Bull Elk at Prince Albert Park
White Tailed Buck – Not very sharp. Notice his “flag” – they hold their tail high when running.
7/4 – Just a short note. Still roaming around Saskatchewan back country. Minimal ATT signal and still no WiFi. We saw a couple more bears today. We are currently at the Prince Albert Prov Park for 2 nights- about 60 north of town P. Albert. Here there are lots of bears so everyone is careful. That’s all for today.
7/8 – Canadian Northwoods Camping; In Canada it’s very common to see rigs like this. Big pickup pulling a big 5th Wheel or travel trailer which is pulling a 18-22 ft either a fishing or ski boat. And, the campgrounds accommodate them by having oversized camping sites. The last 5 or 6 campgrounds we have stayed at were on these huge lakes and half the campers had these rigs.
