Day 3 in Canada. Continued great scenery in Manitoba.

To our animal list we can today add fox, sand hill cranes (pic), black bear, and swarms of large flys.

BTW, there is minimal traffic this far north. 90% of the time when I look behind us there is no traffic for miles ( the roads are boringly straight but very rough in spots).

Spent last night in a Provincial Park on the west shore of Lake Winnipeg, about 80 miles north of Winnipeg. We were going to stay 2 nights until we realized this will be 3 day weekend. July 1 is Canada Day, akin to our 4th of July. So we decided to get as far away from big cities as possible.

We ended up in  a backwoods campground that was not easy to find. The iPhone saved us again. It is right on Cedar Lake, most campers are seasonal meaning they keep their rig here all summer and come and go on weekends. They have a cleaning hut that was very busy. All of these guys appeared to have their limits of walleye.

This campground was it. “It” meaning there were no campgrounds north of here for 200 miles which means we would have had to boondock. Not for me, it was 80 when we got here, I want my AC!
